Incredible Journey

Well, it has been several weeks since I last posted. So much has happened since then. I turned 50, and yesterday I completed a 60-mile, 3-Day walk in San Diego, CA for Susan G. Komen For The Cure . 2008 marks my fourth year of participation in this event, and I never cease to be amazed by the people who support us, the people who cheer us on, and by the stories heard along the way. It was an emotional roller coaster of a week end, but one I would not change in any way. We had a deaf team ('Deaf in Pink'), a blind walker, young walkers, elderly walkers, walkers on crutches, walkers with multiple blisters, and lots of men this year (597--you go guys!). Seeing them all made me realize there are NO EXCUSES! Also, there is no whining on the 3-Day. I am told it causes blisters. Hence, I had none. I did whine a little in my head, however. There were lots of laughs, lots of tears, lots of wonderful memories and new friendships forged. I cannot wait to do it again next year. Does that make me crazy? Nope, just very committed to finding a cure for breast cancer. Until then, I will walk.

Cheers!
